Hezbollah Rockets Hit Haifa and Tiberias, Causing Injuries and Damage
Hezbollah rockets slammed into the northern Israeli port city of Haifa late Sunday, causing five rockets to destroy much of the buildings and infrastructure of the city. Authorities in Israel said eight people had been hurt in the attack on one of the country’s largest cities. Hezbollah Rockets Cause Injuries in Haifa
Hezbollah rockets had exploded in Haifa, but Tal Rosen from the emergency services was on the spot and narrates the event to Reuters. He was indoors, 500 meters or 1,640 feet away when he heard the blast.
“At first we did not find any injuries, but then I noticed damage to a nearby building,” he explained, pointing to the shattered windows of an adjacent apartment block. “There were shards of glass everywhere in that building. I went inside and found four people with minor to moderate injuries.”
Magen David Adom (MDA) ambulance service reported it had treated a 13-year-old boy in moderate condition for his head caused by some shrapnel injuries and dealt with a 22-year-old man who received the worst injuries, including a head and a blast injury as he fell through a window-one of the critical consequences of the rocket attack.
Hezbollah rockets were launched in a targeted response to the Israeli airstrike that killed its leader, Hassan Nasrallah, last month. The group announced that it had fired “a salvo of Fadi 1 rockets at the Carmel base located south of Haifa” late on Sunday. This aggressive action underscores the ongoing tensions between Hezbollah and Israel, with both sides engaging in a cycle of retaliation.
In addition to the attacks on Haifa, the Magen David Adom (MDA) reported that a man in his 20s is currently in serious but stable condition after suffering shrapnel injuries to his chest and abdomen from a separate rocket attack on the town of Tiberias, which is situated about 50 kilometers (30 miles) east of Haifa. This incident further highlights the widespread impact of Hezbollah’s rocket fire on civilian areas.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that approximately 15 projectiles were detected crossing from Lebanon at the same time as the assault on Haifa. While some of these rockets were intercepted by defensive systems, others landed in the area, causing damage. The Israeli police confirmed that several buildings and properties were affected by the explosions, illustrating the destructive consequences of the ongoing conflict between Hezbollah and Israel.
